(Humming)
It’s crazy how these memories
Haunt me like a bad dream
Tell me, am I hallucinating?
Cause the pain I feel is taking all my energy
I was strong, gladly moving on
So I thought but I was dead wrong
Yesterday when I saw your face
It tore my heart apart and now my old wounds scream new pain
They tell you that time can heal the wounds
They tell you that the walls you’ve built will fall
They tell you that it’s better to love and lose than to never have loved before
Then tell me why all these sound like bullshit
Clearly you can see that it’s not working for me
It’s like taking one step forward, three steps back
Now I gotta numb the pain
Here I am messed up, bleeding, broken
My heart is shattered, it’s screaming new pain
I find myself lost in thoughts of what could have been
Damn these unforgettable memories
Here I am messed up, bleeding, broken
My heart is shattered, it’s screaming new pain
I find myself lost in thoughts of what could have been
Damn these unforgettable memories
Tell me how, tell me how to move on
Tell me how, tell me how to let it burn…
I find myself lost in thoughts of what could have been
Damn these unforgettable memories.

About “Unforgettable Memories”
Unforgettable Memories is a sad love song that comes from a personal place. It was written during the last phase of healing. It talks about the reality of heartbreak: how easy it is for people to tell you to move on and how difficult it can be to actually move on.
At some point, it’d feel like you’d never really get over the pain you feel and anyone who says you will, is just saying. Here’s my personal take on it: You will feel the pain, don’t mask it. Allow yourself to grieve. Healing takes time and everyone’s time frame is different so don’t let anyone put you down for hurting so long.
One thing I know for sure, is that despite the fact that it sounds like bullshit, you’ll heal eventually. But for now, take your time.
In the meantime, tell me what you think about the song. Can you relate? Does it speak to you? I know I’m not a professional singer, please don’t judge me. Haha! However, I am open to constructive criticism.
Can’t wait to read your comments below. Love y’all!

Well, feeling pain sometimes, helps us to appreciate good times. If we dwell in a state of perpetual joy, we cannot really know what joy is. So, a little bit of contrast helps. Wish you all the best in your creative pursuits.
That’s true. Thanks for the kind words, Eze.
Wow you are so talented. I loved the song and the lyrics specially are wonderful. Please sharing such good work, love to listen more.
Thank you so much, Kuntala. I really appreciate your kind words.
These lyrics really hit home for me. So powerful!
Awwn… Glad you could relate, Veronika. Thank You.
I love your siging voice. So calming. I think most of us can relate to the song. We all suffered from broken heart once in life.
Thank you, Marta, for the kind words,
You can really feel the pain in these lyrics. Heartbreak is devastating, even as you’re emerging from it, and you’ve really captured that.
Thank you so much, Bethan.
This is heartbreaking but in a beautiful way! I love how you make me feel every word with your write ups! Very admirable!
Thank you for such kind words, Krizzia.
It’s a nice song with a catchy tune that really brings in the emotions you were probably feeling at the time you wrote this.
Thank you so much, Nkem. Glad you liked it.
Congratulations on the new song. It sounds great – and captures well that pain of a broken heart when everyone just gives you advice how it’ll get better.
Thanks so much, Luci. And yes, it definitely does.
I think everyone can relate to healing and different moods and emotions. I think we certainly never forget painful things but maybe learn to accept they happened.
That’s very correct, Liz. Thanks for stopping by.
Music deffo links with emotions for sure…now if I feel sad I try to put uplifting tunes on for sure. however, it is still nice to listen to the sad beats too…great song x
So true, Melanie. Me too.
Beautiful song. It touches on raw emotions. So moving. There is no set limit to healing, it is different for everyone. My sad, unforgettable memories are still with me, and I am still healing even if it has been more than a decade since.
That’s true, Kristine. The memories will always linger until they choose to fade away. Thank you.
This is so true. The line that says you are moving on but when you saw his face again, it just opened up new pain/ wounds is so relatable. I have personally experienced this with my ex. Thank you for sharing this song. Your lyrics are beautiful. Sad but beautiful.
Awwn… Thank you so much, Clarice. I hope you find someone better soon.
I hated being in that position. Of thinking I was fine, until that one person came by again. Falling apart all over again. And the advice given by others really isn’t helpful.
The words are so beautiful and speak to my heart. Thanks for sharing with us.
I always get sad everytime I read your spoken words/poems. Sad in a good way though, I love it!
I feel your pain. I know how hard it is to move on.
