Requiem for a Dream – Viano Dee
Dj Freedem
It’s Viano Dee!
Listen! Yo, yo!
This is a moment of dismay, hearsay, sorrow, and decay
For these dreams long dreamt have been aborted by the wicked – weak heads
They talk big but act small, always creating downfalls
Never having courage to face the truth, they twist truth then abuse the truthful
First, they make promises then proceed to do the opposite
Nest, they blame their opponents for all of their failed promises
They are busy chasing shadows, things they can’t account for
Tell a story in one breath, next thing they forget what it was
Requiem for a dream
Requiem for a dream
Na who no get eye no dey see
Requiem for a dream, requiem for a dream
Here’s a requiem for a dream
Requiem for a dream
Na who no get eye no dey see
So many things going on
Too many questions
But no valid answers
So, listen
This is a moment of terror, horror, suffering, and blind wars
As manipulators extort, see as dem lie cover-up
First, they commit heinous crimes then blame it on bandits
They pretend to tackle it, meanwhile, backstage they’re encouraging it
Next, they frame the innocent, charge them with crimes of the guilty
Then the guilty walk freely while working as itinerants for warlords
It’s a lost world, a lost war, a great ploy
To cause provocation —to succeed in their wicked deeds
Requiem for a dream
Requiem for a dream
Na who no get eye no dey see
Requiem for a dream, requiem for a dream
Here’s a requiem for a dream
Requiem for a dream
Na who no get eye no dey see
Requiem for a dream, requiem for a dream
Here’s a requiem for a dream
This is a moment of discord, delusions, things of this sort
Socio-economical, spiritual, political war
Religion sews the edges, this point should never go ignored
The plan is to divide and rule; encourage use of the sword
It’s a blood bath just see how the earth is decorated in red
See the confusion and pollution, souls are lost along the way
While all these are going on, some are busy praising themselves
They’ve sold out long ago, so they’re dining with the devil in hell
Requiem for a dream
Requiem for a dream
Na who no get eye no dey see
Requiem for a dream, requiem for a dream
Here’s a requiem for a dream
Requiem for a dream
Na who no get eye no dey see
Requiem for a dream, requiem for a dream
Here’s a requiem for a dream

About “Requiem for a Dream”
Though the title was inspired by the movie with the same title, the song takes a slightly different direction. While the movie sees the death of a dream as a result of addiction, the song sees the death of a dream as a result of power and greed using Nigeria and the world system as the reference.
