Hell’s Heaven
Listen here:
I find you
scrambling for gold
through nooks and crannies
open spaces and holes
but you fail to see
that this is all smoke
an endless chasing
of invisible visibilities
I see you
caressing the darkness
lost in its grip
you embrace its bitter
tenderness
as it drains you
of your happiness
an endless journey
of insecure securities
I tell you to stop
get rid of this love
this loving lust drives
you insane, it makes you
a living corpse
I beg you to come
into the light that
shines so bright
directs your path
but you blow me off
call it a bluff
tag me the enemy
while the real enemy
serves you sugarcoated lies
void hopes and vacant promises
I watch you burn out
skin peeled, bones dry
pregnant with the consequences
of your actions
you birth your nemesis
as you insist on being one
with the darkness
Here, you
rot away so easily
vanishing like the wind
yet, no amount of gold
can save your soul

About ‘Hell’s Heaven’
Hell’s Heaven is a spoken word poetry about vanity. We are in an era where people are desperate for wealth and are ready to do whatever to acquire it.
It is no secret that many have sold their souls for material things and have ignored the warnings. Sadly, as we know, nothing in this world lasts forever. Everything thing here changes.
The things that are trending today, will become old school tomorrow. If this is so, how does selling one’s soul benefit anyone?
It is important to remember that actions have consequences… Be mindful of what you’re trading. At the end of the day, would it really be worth it?
“For what does it profit a man to gain the world and lose his soul?”— Matt 16:26

Such a great poem and perspective. It is quite an eye opening experience to see how much someone will trade to have wealth and materialistic things. The sad thing too is that it’s starting off very young these days. A quick scroll through social media and you know what I mean.

A great poem indeed, it is sad that in spite of knowing nothing lasts forever and is temporary, folks are after material things and power and being vain. Something to really sit down and think about.
It’s true that to a certain extent many people I driven to do whatever it takes to acquire wealth but more importantly some people are more interested in total control not just wealth.
wonderful poem and eye on things. I enjoyed reading it and it gave me a reason to thin and amaze
Ironically that last quote you shared is one I recently shared too. I think it’s quite apt for today and what is happening in the world. People forget what’s important and honour money.
Wow this is beautifully written! So much truth that people are just too quick to go after materialistic things (wealth, vanity etc) rather than enjoying the fun of the journey.
I agree with you that yes, indeed actions have consequences. Many bad decisions arise because of vanity that they become so materialistic. Thank you for sharing this.
This is a wonderful poem and very apparent to what is going on in the world today, sadly.
