10 Disturbing Perfume Brand Names

Have you ever perceived a fragrance that smells really nice— only to find out that the name isn’t as pleasant as its scent? You probably have, or maybe not.

If not, allow me to introduce you to 10 of them:

Bondage Homme by Milton Lloyd; Bondage by Milton Lloyd for Women

Speechless? Guess it means what it means. The package lives true to its name. Though nothing is said about what inspired the choice of brand name, what may easily come to one’s mind is that it is designed to keep one or one’s significant other in bondage. There’s no way to even comprehend this.

Body Fantasies Vampire Midnight by Parfums De Coeur for Women

At first glance, you’re like : “Why Vampire Midnight?” You might even wonder if the fragrance is for vampire wannabes.

Well, the name was given to the fragrance because it was inspired by vampire tales. Body Fantasies’ Vampire Midnight Perfume was launched in 2011.

Poison Perfume for Women by Christian Dior

“Poison?” Why? Why should you smell like poison?

According to Dior.com, the perfume is an irresistibly seductive fragrance characterized by spectacular appeal.

Each poison fragrance is a part of the Dior legend of seduction, embodying magic and audacity, fascination and enchantment.

Among the poison collections are Hypnotic poison (which come in as perfumes, sprays, bath and shower gel, and body lotion) and pure poison (which is a perfume).

What may likely come to mind is poisoning by seduction— if that even makes sense.

Death and Decay by Lush for both Men and Women

“Why would anyone want to smell like death and decay?” If this is what is running through your mind, you’re not alone. Someone else is thinking same.

According to various reviews the fragrance doesn’t actually stink as you might think. On the contrary, it smells like white lilies with notes of rose, jasmine and tonka bean. It was inspired by the cyclical nature of life. The Lush website says:

“… it reminds you of the prosaic side of death; the funereal silences, the reverence of remembering those who have passed.”

Death and decay is a floral fragrance for both men and women that was launched in 2014.

Le Baiser Du Dragon Perfume for Women by Cartier

Le Baiser du Dragon ( The Dragon’s Kiss) was created in 2003 by Alberto Morillas. Why the name? Fragrantica.com has this to say:

“Cartier’s Baiser du Dragon (the Dragon’s Kiss) is a dangerous and powerful scent. Exotic and intense, it will transport you into the world of fairytale dragons, princesses and princes.

You can hear the burning of the dragon’s fiery breath while bitter smoke envelopes you and your sense, but then, suddenly, this gentle warmth settles on the skin.”

So now we know that this is a dangerous and powerful scent. Okay!

Scent from Hell for Women by Bruno Banani

Could it be that the name ‘Scent from Hell” was given because of the evils that befall men which are most times caused by women?

So far, the reason for the name is unknown but what we do know is that it’s a Floral Fruity fragrance for women. It was launched in 2003 and according to Parfumo International, the production was discontinued. No reasons are given.

Surprise: The one for men is called Scent from Heaven . It was also launched 2003 and is still available.

The perfume for ladies was launched in 1982 by Schiapparelli while the one for men was first launched in 2003 by Arrogance. Both are still available for sale till date.

Nothing is being said about why the brand name ‘Arrogance’ was chosen. But what comes to one’s mind is just has vibrant as the name itself ‘Arrogance’.

Now I wonder if every arrogant person I have met wore this perfume? Just thinking out loud.

Evil by Elvira Perfume for Women

Not much is said about this fragrance so we may not know the inspiration behind the name. What we do know is that it was launched in 1990 by Elvira. However, the production has been discontinued for reasons unknown.

Playing with the Devil Perfume by Kilian

This perfume is the fourth edition of the collection of good and evil by Kilian. The package speaks volumes.

According to the Kilian site, the inspiration is fiery, flirtatiously fierce, Playing with the Devil is unforgettable.

One wonders if it has anything to do with the Garden of Eden; Eve “playing with the Devil”. On this, Fragrantica sheds more light:

“…Playing with the Devil is inspired by forbidden fruit interpreted in modern, imaginative way. The concept of god and evil is recognized in this composition in which on the one side the creator offers sweet, fruity tamed accord sprinkled with insolence and lecherous heat of resin and hot spices”.

The perfume was first launched in 2013 and is still in production till date.

Parfum Lucifer by Damien Bash

Yup! You read right. The brand has 5 fragrances in this order: Lucifer No 1,2,3,4 and Lucifer Sin. It was launched during the 2000’s. From the reviews on various sites, quite a number of people think that at least one of the volumes is nice.

However, there are still a number of people who wouldn’t dare go near it or purchase one because of the name.

And there you have it! What do you think? Would you purchase any of these? Do you think there is more to a name? Share your thoughts in the comment section.

There some horror names there.  I don’t think I’d be seen dead wearing “death and decay”  😀

Haha. Even when it’s death and decay? That’s very funny.

This Death and Decay by Lush for both Men and Women always make me want to ask for more..i feel cool using that.

Yomi Spontaneous

Goodness!! Those names are disturbing indeed I’d literally never buy just for their name sakes. Parfum Lucifer, Poison…actually disturbing!

WOW those are incredibly interesting names. The bottles are also different.

Di MadWriter

What an interesting way to look at perfumes. These names are all intense.. I’ve never heard of the Lucifer one but I’m very familiar with Poison though I’ve never used any of these perfumes

Those are definitely some interesting names.  And the containers look ominous as well!

Annemarie LeBlanc

Really disturbing names. I would be so put off with a perfume that is named Death and Decay. And all the evil sounding ones too! Can you imagine the look on the face of someone who asks you what perfume you’re wearing and you’ll say “Death and Decay” or “Scent from Hell?” Hahaha.

Fashion and Style Police

Interesting perfume names here. The only one I am familiar with is Dior Poison. Never heard of the others.

Wow this is definitely a very different perspective. I had never thought of it before 😀 This post is definitely funny.

Some of those names are too funny not to get noticed. I would love to know how that vampire one smells

Agnes Dela Cruz

Those are funny, ridiculous, and absurd names for a perfume. Who would buy such!

Jody Savage

Wonderful! I love these scents!

Haha, I am selling perfumes but I never realized how funny, gross and creepy are these stuff!

Amy Braun

Vampire Midnight seems really cool though. When I think of vampires and midnight, I think of that. I have to try the smell but the color and shape is what I think of a vampire and midnight: mystic.

I’m not a parfum fans,. but with this post I’ll give it a try

Darlene Odenwald

These are disturbing and hilarious. I can’t imagine who would wear Death and Decay by choice.

Would love your thoughts, please comment.x
